Gateau chocolat Valrhona
Valrhona chocolate cakeIngredients Â
- 190 g pieces chocolate (Valrhona) roughly grated or chopped in small pieces
- 190 g unsalted butter from the French Market shop
- 190 g caster sugar
- pinch salt
- pinch cinnamon
- 100 g plain flour
- 3 medium eggs
Directions
- Preheat oven to 170C degrees
- Lightly grease a 19 cm cake tin
- Melt chocolate and butter in a large bowl, over a pan of simmering water
- When smooth beat in sugar, salt and cinnamon with a wooden spoon
- Sift in the flour bit by bit, stirring between sifts.
- Whisk the eggs then add to the mixture.
- Pour into prepared tin and bake 40 minutes. If a skewer comes out clean, it is cooked.
- Allow to cool in tin but turn out before completely cold.
Serve with a bowl of thick cream or crème fraiche accompanied by a glass of Cristal Champagne Louis Roederer from the French Market shop in Cape Town or order online with us.
