Dry Goods
At the French Market we stock a wide range of dry goods imported from France and several other countries. Using these unique and authentic products enables you to recreate the original textures and flavours of traditional gourmet dishes.
Beans & Grains
Our dried beans from France include White coco beans, and Flageolets verts, both ingredients used in French country recipes including Cassoulet.
Our imported products from France and Italy include Buckwheat grains, Buckwheat Sarrasin flour from Brittany, Double zero flour from Italy, local coarse ground flour; Couscous, Fregola Sarda, Beluga lentils, Green lentils, Pasta Rosmarino, Pearl barley, Quinoa, Rice Carnaroli and Arborio, Rice black rustica Venere, Risotto truffle and cheese flavoured from Italy.
Biscuits and Cakes
We have a wide range of products from across Europe. At Christmas time we have our Panettone and Pandoro from Italy; Amaretti and Savoiradi biscuits from Italy; Crackers salted and Rosemary flavoured to go with cheese, Melba toast, Cheese biscuits, Breakfast rusks, Pain d’Epice, Stroopwafels and Speculaas from Holland.
Mustard, Oils and Vinegars
We stock the famous Edmond Fallot mustards from Dijon, authentically ground using a stone mill, which gives the mustard a unique quality and texture. We stock over 10 different flavoured mustards plus large 1kg jars and mini packs of 4 assorted flavours. The favourite is the truffle flavoured mustard.
The French are famous for their oils produced from different nuts, we stock Walnut oil and Hazelnut oil from France, these can transform a simple salad into a gourmet experience. In addition we have unfiltered extra virgin Olive oil from Italy and truffle flavoured olive oil.
Vinegars create wonderful flavours in salad dressings and other sauces. The French are renowned for their fruit and herb flavoured vinegars. We stock a wide range of flavoured vinegars from Edmond Fallot. These include aged red wine vinegar, Burgundy white wine vinegar, tarragon vinegar, herbs vinegar, merlot wine vinegar and cider apple vinegar. We also stock Balsamic vinegar, red and white wine vinegar from Modena in Italy.
Savoury & Sweet Preserves
We have a range of Italian preserves including artichokes in oil, capers in salt crystals; Cornichons which are the French crunchy, salty, small gherkins; Chutneys from England and South Africa.
We stock a wide range of jams from France by Bonne Maman and St Dalfour, from England by Wilkin and Sons, and mini jams from South Africa. In this section we also have Marrons, whole cooked chestnuts from France, which can be used to stuff turkeys, make cakes and many other recipes.
