Camembert au four
Baked camembert
Ingredients for starter portions
- 1 raw milk Petit Camembert from Normandie (150g for 2 people – 250g for 4 – 6)
- 1 clove garlic
- 4 – 6 Sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme
- Pinch of sel de Guerande
- Freshly ground pepper
- 1 Baguette
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 180C degrees
- Peel and slice the garlic clove
- Cut tips off the rosemary or thyme
- Remove the camembert from the paper wrapping
- Place Camembert in a heat proof ramekin or similar bowl
- Pierce top of camembert several times with knife and insert a slice of garlic and tip of rosemary/thyme in each cut
- Place in preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes
- Slice baguettes into small chunks (croutons) and crisp in the oven
- Take croutons and melted camembert out of oven
- Sprinkle the salt and freshly ground pepper over the crusty croutons
To serve, place bowl with melted camembert in centre of table and arrange the croutons of baguette around the camembert and some skewers or forks to dip the croutons into the cheese. Serve with a glass of Marc Bredief Vouvray from the Loire Valley, available from the French Market shop or order online from our website.
