Hello French Market friends,
Last week was hectic but all the French events worked well and we had a great celebration of the 14th of July, in the image taken at the event is the French Consul General Laurent Alberti who is coming to the end of his posting, and the famous French Baker Cedric Touzard and your favourite Fromagiste, Cedric and I are talking about setting up a small patisserie stand in the shop in August. Watch this space!
This week is equally hectic for me as I am moving flats and trying to pack before month end so forgive me that the newsletter is a bit short.
The South African Black Winter truffle season has arrived, and we will have some fresh truffles in the shop this weekend. They have an intense flavour and are home grown which makes them even more exciting.
In our cheese range we have a wide variety available for you from all the regions of France. From creamy Brie de Meaux to pungent Epoisses there is something to please everyone.
Back in stock in our dry goods range is Stroopwaffels, these are the Dutch wafer biscuits that have a syrup filling they are great put over the top of a cup of coffee as the warm coffee heats up the syrup and it melts. In our fresh produce range, we have beautiful free-range eggs that often have a double yolk, they have a great taste as well. For this week’s recipe I am proposing some free-range scrambled eggs mixed with fresh black winter truffles.
Have a great weekend,
Regards
Suzanne and The French Market Team
