Hello French Market friends,
Traditionally in France the church bells are silent from Good Friday until early on Easter Sunday, because the bells all grow tiny wings and fly to Rome to get blessed. On their return to all the churches around the country, they are laden with chocolate eggs and gifts for the children and ring out to celebrate Easter Sunday. Easter egg hunts are started with the words “Les cloches sont passes” (the Bells have visited) and the children rush outside to find their gifts.
Easter long weekend starts tomorrow, and we have some beautiful treats for you to serve at your Festive table. Our French Market shop will be open every day over the Easter weekend, on Good Friday and Easter Saturday from 9 – 5pm, on Easter Sunday and Monday from 9-2pm. We have lots of special cheeses and other gourmet delicacies for your special Easter meals plus a range of champagnes including some Grands Crus.

To start your day well on Easter Sunday, remember to buy some of our frozen croissants and pain au chocolat, baguettes. Make a special breakfast with scrambled eggs and caviar, see recipe below.
